Sisters hire their photographer mum for Barbie wedding photo shoot

As you read this, thousands of Barbie and Ken dolls around the world are being joined in holy matrimony.
 
Whether the ceremony is conducted on a bedroom floor, in the car during a family road trip, or in Dad’s rose garden, the Barbie wedding is something of a childhood rite of passage. 
 
However, three sisters from California have taken their doll’s nuptials to a whole new level by hiring a photographer to capture the occasion.

Though her daughters’ request came right in the middle of the busy wedding season, Brandy says she couldn’t resist the chance to collaborate with them on such a fun project.
 
“I was feeling in an artistic funk myself, so I was pretty excited because I knew it was going to be not only a fantastic, fun time (my kids are hysterical to me), but I knew the process, the memories and the outcome would be far beyond worth it,” she explains.

“It was amazing to see how much they pay attention and pick up on.”
 
Brandy says she was particularly impressed by the photos of the dolls riding their horses on a rock.

“They worked SO hard to get the horses to stay standing with the dolls on them,” she says.

Newlyweds Lila and Justin are yet to share their verdict on the photos, but Curren, Kaylan and Jordi were “over the moon” with the results - understandably.
 
Yet for their mum, the best part was the opportunity to spend an “openly creative” day with her daughters and create memories to cherish.
 
“[There were] no expectations on process or outcome. Kids are creatively and soulfully refreshing,” she tells 9Honey.

“This really was a day I will never forget with these beautiful spirits.”
 
And yes, the girls came through on their promised payments.
 
“I did get several back rubs from my oldest! They ended up getting a pretty good deal on my services,” Brandy says.
