Internet rallies around author after no-one shows up for book signing
The internet can be held responsible for a lot of negativity in the world, but this is one heartwarming occasion where the web turned around one author's nightmare night.
Writer Suzanne Young, who is a New York Times bestselling author of several novels, including The Program Series and Girls with Sharp Sticks, recently held a book signing for her latest novel – Nightfall.
As a writer, getting to meet the people who love and absorb your work is one of the highlights of the job.

However, no one showed up.
The novelist took to Twitter to share a photo of dozens of empty chairs at what would've been her book signing event.
"If you ever want to see a career low point, this is it," the author wrote in the heart shattering post.
"Crying the entire way home."

What could have become a post that slipped into the Twitter blackhole was actually quickly picked up by other users and authors.
"Pop off a tweet if you're doing an appearance in Atlanta. I'll cover one chair at least," one user wrote.
"I'm sorry you went through this but I'm also excited to check out your book," another Twitter user added.
"Been there. Sending love and a hug. Their loss," Beverly Jenkins, USA Today bestselling author of the Women Who Dare series said.

After thousands of supportive tweets flooded the author's account, she posted a follow-up thanking everyone:
"THANK YOU for showing up for me at what I thought was my lowest point. Turns out, it was kind of my turning point. I can never tell you how incredibly grateful I am," she wrote.
Young will also be appearing on NBC nightly news over in the US this evening to discuss her book and the prolific turn of events she experienced thanks to Twitter.
