A Sydney budget guru has demonstrated how she prepares her lunches for a week at a cost of $31, and the food looks delicious.

Queenie Tan, who runs popular YouTube channels Cook with Queenie and Invest with Queenie, which focus on money-saving advice, preps her lunches two weeks ahead.

By batch-cooking her favourite meals and taking advantage of cashback features on her credit card, which saves her a few extra bucks, her lunches end up costing approximately $4 per meal.

Queenie says she usually batch cooks four different dishes so she has some variety. This time she cooked prawn pasta, pasta with pesto, vegetarian lasagne and egg fried rice, which she taught her viewers how to make. The ingredients include shallots, garlic cloves, eggs, spring onions, vegetable oil, frozen prawns, rice, sesame oil, soy sauce, Japanese mayonnaise and oyster sauce, all of which she bulk-buys from the most affordable places possible.

She explains how she does this in a video posted on YouTube this week, explaining, "You can try to save money by buying ingredients in bulk when things are on special."

Her followers were quick to praise her efforts, with some offering tips on how to stretch her food budget further.

"That's impressive, Queenie," wrote one. "Love the fried rice recipe. I make it stretch even further by mixing in lots of stir fried vegetables at the end. Keeps it healthy and lowers the cost per serve even more."

"I had all these meals in mind for the upcoming week. You're a mind reader!! Love 'em can't wait to try your Asian prawn pasta," another person said.

Queen shared further advice on how she saves on general grocery costs, revealing she buys soy milk in bulk on Amazon because she found it can save her about "20 per cent".

"I get $10 off my shopping every two months with my loyalty cards, which is roughly $60 per year that I'm saving."

Queenie is also a fan of Aldi products, with the chain offering more affordable options for many of the ingredients she uses, as well as tasty bottles of wine.

"The quality of the wine isn't bad, but Aldi only chooses a couple of wines for their store so they are able to go directly to the winemakers and order really large quantities for a reduced price."
