Even as a snow storm rips through the United States, a 90-year-old woman wouldn't be deterred from getting the coronavirus vaccine.

Fran Goldman from Seattle walked almost 10km through knee-deep snow on Sunday after finally securing an appointment for the coveted COVID-19 vaccine.

The elderly woman was motivated by the prospect of finally seeing her grandchildren again after spending months in quarantine.

"I had been spending a great deal of my time trying to get an appointment for a vaccination and finally on Friday, late afternoon I got one," Goldman told Fox News.

Goldman says she woke up on Saturday and was worried about the snow levels, understanding her driveway would be "inaccessible" due to the weather.

Seattle, where Goldman is from, recorded up to 15cm of snow after a winter storm swept parts of the United States.

Undeterred by the blizzard, Goldman first practised walking from her home to a hospital located half the distance to the doctor's clinic.

Despite arriving slightly late to her appointment, Goldman succeeded.

The 90-year-old was told to sit and wait 15 minutes to ensure she didn't react to the inoculation.

"I said, 'I'm delighted to sit'," Goldman said.
