Polar bear or panda? Bizarre bear seen in Chinese reserve

A handout photo made available by Wolong National Nature Reserve shows an infrared camera image showing an all-white giant panda. Wolong National Nature Reserve

The adorable beastie was photographed in the Wolong nature reserve in Sichuan province in mid-April, though the picture has just been released.

Experts estimated the animal at between one and two years old, according to a press release from the park.

Its fur appears to be fully white, and it has red eyes.

Albino animals are often at greater risk from predators - human or otherwise - but there are very few animals that will tackle a grown panda. As cute as they look, they are still giant bears, after all.

Wolong reserve secretary Duan Zhaogang certainly seemed optimistic that the ursine albino would be spotted again, saying the park planned to place more cameras in the area in the hope of tracking the animal's development.
