Aussie stars reveal their favourite shows to binge over the holidays: 'Guaranteed to leave you in stitches'

EXCLUSIVE: It's the most wonderful time of the year... to plonk yourself in front of the TV with the aircon on and an ice block in hand, of course.

We asked familiar faces from Channel 9 to offer up their binge-watching plans for inspiration – and there is one show in particular that will be blasted across screens right across the country.

Grab your cowboy hat, because of course it's Yellowstone.

When asked what series she and her family would be enjoying over the break, Getaway host Catriona Rowntree – and proud Yellowstone superfan – had a hilarious response.

"Excuse me? How can you even ask me?" she joked.

"We've been obsessed with Yellowstone along with the rest of the world and are asking Santa for a Beth n' Rip spin off. One can dream."

She wasn't the only one either – perhaps she can compare notes with The Block host Scott Cam, who listed the Stan series as his choice as well.

9News Queensland Weather Presenter Garry Youngberry would also be heading to the Dutton's Montana ranch courtesy of his TV.

"My daughter and I will be binging on Yellowstone on Stan. My daughter is a jockey so we share a passion for horses," he said.

The Block judge Shaynna Blaze had been saving another show from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan especially for this time of year.

"I don't have one for each year that we go back to but there have been many years where the 'lost days' between Christmas and New Year is food and binge watching," she said.

"Entourage and Mad Men have to go down as memorable watches. This year I'm saving the new series Landman for the last days of 2024."

Others said they would be turning to comfort watches.

The Block co-host Shelley Craft said her family would be watching Outer Banks on Netflix "over and over and over".

Judge Darren Palmer would be switching to and from family-friendly viewing with his son.

"My son and I like animated stuff, the whole family likes things like Only Murders in the Building and Colin From Accounts – light hearted and well written stuff. [His husband] Olivier and I are loving Slow Horses and The Diplomat. So, there's a gamut of binging for different people at different times."

Both Married At First Sight expert Mel Schilling and 60 Minutes reporter Amelia Adams predicted familiar movie marathons in their houses.

"Our daughter, Maddie is a self-confessed Potter Head so each holiday period invariably results in a Harry Potter marathon or two," Mel explained.

Amelia said her kids were "obsessed with the Home Alone movies" and they always watched the first four movies over the summer break – although she doesn't necessary recommend you do the same!

"They should have stopped after Home Alone 2..." she said.

Christmas episodes of other iconic shows was also a popular choice.

"That's easy! The Vicar of Dibley Christmas episodes on Stan. They are guaranteed to leave you in stitches," recommended 9News Darwin Presenter Paul Murphy.

The Hundred's Mike Goldstein would be watching the festive episodes of both The Office UK and US on Stan.

"It's a real Merry Cringe-Mas!" he said.

Meanwhile, The Hundred host Andy Lee had a slightly more creative idea.

"I force the whole family to watch the latest season of The Hundred and then make them take a comprehension test so I know they were taking it all in," he said.

That's one unique way to pass the time!
