Walking a tightrope is supposed to be tricky, but walking a piece of timber in a pair of work boots is no picnic either.

That's what we can learn from this viral video out of Port Macquarie in NSW.

Carpenter Ty Bedwell captured apprentice Blake Oreo attempting to "walk the plank" across a pool and boy oh boy it did not go well.

... well, it didn't go well for poor bloke in the pool.

It went bloody well for the video though, which went bonkers on Facebook. 

The video is going viral after being posted to the Crap Carpentry Facebook page earlier this week, clocking up more than 3.5 million views and sparking thousands of chimes in the comments section.

"Hope he filled out a near miss form," Glenn Gibson said.

"Dock his pay for breaking the timber instead," Garry Bannister added.

This poor fella’s unfortunate misstep has been shared more than 33,000 times in just three days, littering the news feeds of Aussie tradies on Facebook.

It just goes to show that if you want to go viral, you've got to put your body on the line.
