Best-selling novel gets chilling TV adaptation - and its star has very famous parents

Actor Joe Freeman is an up-and-coming name, but he's no stranger to the success of an incredible TV series.

Today, the young star wows in the chilling trailer for The Institute, a new series based on Stephen King's best-selling novel of the same name, ahead of its July 14 premiere.

The Institute premieres July 14, followed by new episodes every Monday, only on Stan.

While it may be his acting debut, the 19-year-old is the son of The Office and Sherlock star Martin Freeman and his ex-wife and Sherlock co-star, Amanda Abbington.

The Institute tells the gripping story of teen prodigy Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman), who is abducted and wakes up at a mysterious facility filled with children who arrived under similarly sinister circumstances and all of whom possess strange supernatural abilities.

Meanwhile, in a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes) is trying to outrun his past. But peace won't come easily, as Tim's path is set to collide with Luke's in a battle far bigger than either could imagine.

The Institute stars Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Barnes,The Chronicles of Narnia), Joe Freeman (Luke Ellis), Simone Miller (Kalisha), Fionn Laird (Nick), Hannah Galway (Wendy), Julian Richings (Stackhouse), Robert Joy (Dr. Hendricks) and Martin Roach (Chief Ashworth).

Stephen King acts as an executive producer, alongside, Jack Bender, Benjamin Cavell, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan and Ed Redlich, and directed by Jack Bender and teleplay by Benjamin Cavell.
