VIDEO: Whaboom guy on The Bachelorette will deeply confuse and delight you

Dannielle Maguire

Ahhh, The Bachelorette.

It's a glorious melting pot of shame and trash and many, many ball gowns.

And if you thought the Australian version was weird, we'd like to introduce you to the triple distilled crazy cocktail that is the US version.

For anyone who doesn't understand the premise of the show (we said "premise", not "need for it to exist"), it's basically a house full of men who sacrifice their dignity to clamour over each other in a bid to win the heart of the bachelorette.

It's not normal, it's kinda wrong and it's bloody glorious.

This year marks the 13th US season of The Bachelorette, with jilted former The Bachelor contestant Rachel Lindsay in control of the roses.

Last night marked the launch of the show, which is a fantastically cringe-worthy parade of potential suitors getting out of super, super fancy black cars.

And hoooooy boy, were there some doozeys.

Weirdo Number One is Lucas Yancey, AKA Whabooom.

We're not entirely sure what "whaboom" is, but it is listed as his occupation.

Yancey's entrance to the show was equal parts terrible and fantastic.

We're going to give you a second to watch it, replay it and let it sink in.

There would be some cynical folks out there who would suggest that someone who appeared on the show with a hashtag emblazoned on their chest was promoting a commercial venture of some kind.

What?!

You actually think people use shows like The Bachelor as a platform to launch their pitiful careers and a desperate bid for fame?!

We don't believe you.

Sure, old mate may happen to have a a business flogging this Whaboom shirts online, but that's beside the point.

This is about love, guys.

L-O-V-E.

Yancey is, according to US entertainment sites, a real estate investor and developer and has been known to dip his toe in acting and comedy.

He was on WeTV’s Ex Isle last year and he was behind a YouTube ad called Sexy Doritos Massage!, a video that has attracted exactly three comments, one of which says: "You need to be hosting SNL " and another that simply reads "WHABOOOOOM ".

And while this guy may come off as somewhat irritating, he makes excellent fodder for reality TV and the corresponding Twitter storm:

Whaboom guy is so odd he almost overshadows the guy who brought French doll with a suit and dreamy hair to the competition.

ALMOST.

The eligible man on question is a real estate agent called Adam, while the doll thing from hell is creatively called Adam Jnr, shortened to AJ.

Here they are:

Yep, that's real life.

And could you believe that an inanimate child-sized doll would have more personality and fans than a real estate Bachelorette contestant?

…yeah, we can.

Oh, and that guy on the left was the cluey gent who lists his occupation as "tickle monster". We kid you not.

What a glorious, mind-melting trainwreck.

We highly recommend that you get on this board with this madness.
