VIDEO: The Last Jedi trailer has just dropped and holy moly calm yourself down

We don't mean to alarm you but the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has just dropped and holy cheese maybe you should sit down.

Seriously, take a second to compose yourself before you hit play. 

And a word of warning from director Rian Johnson: this trailer may contain traces of spoilers.

It's not that he said to avoid it like the black cat lollies in a bag of Allen's Party Mix, but he did hint that the trailer could contain a few deets that may or may not tarnish your experience of the movie.

So if you want to be caught totally unawares by the latest film, maybe don't watch the trailer.

But a heckload of Star Wars fans are going to be across this so if you want to remain pure, you might need to take more drastic measures.

To be 100% safe you're going to have to log off from all your social media accounts, throw away your wifi modem, unplug the TV and stay locked up in the house.

And hey, props to you if you're committed enough to become a social outcast until the film drops.

The Last Jedi is promising big things and if the build up to the release of the trailer is anything to go by, this movie is going to be pretty epic.

We mean, there was a trailer for the trailer for heaven's sake.

Just an hour before the big reveal, we were gifted with the official poster:

Fans were losing their minds.

The trailer aired during the broadcast of a Monday Night Football game in the US – about 1pm on Tuesday in Australia – playing on the big screens at Soldier Field in Chicago.

They even had bloody Storm Troopers march on to the field. 

Yep, there was A LOT of hype.
