Rich people in the UK put spikes on their trees to stop birds pooing on their fancy cars

Do you feel the need to be angry at something today but haven't got anything to fuel your outrage?

Well let us hook you up, dear irate friend.

A bunch of trees have been fitted with spikes to deter birds from roosting in their branches in the UK and people are up in arms about it.

As journos Sarah Ward and Esme Ashcroft report for The Independent, the spikes went up in Clifton, a wealthy area of Bristol, with the trees stretching over the car park for an exclusive, privately-owned block flats.

According to the report, "a number of expensive BMWs and Audis" park in the area, with the spikes installed to stop bird droppings from dirtying the vehicles below.

Yup, this is all about bird poo.

"There is a big problem with bird droppings around here," an anonymous resident said.

"They can really make a mess of cars, and for some reason the birds do seem to congregate around this area."

The story has sparked outrage online, following a tweet from writer Jennifer Garrett on Monday:
