Moulamein man’s snake-up-the-jeans gag was far too convincing

Ok, we’re well aware that it is no longer April Fools’ Day.

The long weekend is over, the novelty-shaped chockies are gone and there seems to be very little to get excited about on this dreary Tuesday.

So excuse us if we need some snake-up-me-pants action to liven things up a bit.

And, besides, the chances are you were off enjoying yourself all weekend and have only just returned to the warm embrace of the internet as you pretend to do work at your desk.

So you probably missed this one. 

This is an absolutely cooked April Fools’ Day joke from a bloke who goes by the name of China Gibson on Facebook.

Gibson, from Moulamein, in the Riverina region of NSW, posted the video to Facebook on Saturday.

The video starts off with this shot:

“Bloody snakes,” the post said.

“Be nice to them and stop killing them and they want to climb up your leg and scare the s--- out of you.

“I do not know if this b------ went quiet when I clamped the jeans tight on his head because he could not breathe or he was trying to work out a way to open his mouth to bite me.”

Now, being in the wild bit of country that we live in, that’s actually kind of believable.

We’ve seen some bonkers videos of snakes being in places where snakes shouldn’t be, so it was within the realms of possibility.

And there were many who were taken in by this.

It appeared on The Daily Mail and UK’s The Mirror as a legit how-cooked-is-Straya yarn over the long weekend.

Look, we’re not judging.

We reckon old mate deserves a reoccurring role on Home and Away, because that was a bloody convincing performance.

But we have to inform you that the video, which has now been viewed more than 1.4 million times, was a stich up.

Gibson explained to video distribution company ViralHog, which licenced the clip, that it was all a big joke.

“I was bored in the tractor and decided this would be a good April Fools prank for friends and family,” he said.

“Snake was already deceased.

“The end result was a bloody good laugh and a viral video.”

Good heavens.

We really, really hope we never get so bored that shoving a dead snake up our jeans seems like a good way to pass the time.
