Single ladies can now project fake boyfriends on their curtains to pretend they’re not alone
If you’re a single lady and don’t have the time or the inclination to find yourself a boyfriend, soon you might not have to.
Rather than welcoming a flesh bag of love into your life, you could simply settle for a one-dimensional silhouette of a man beamed on to your curtains.
Because who needs conversation, hugs or even skin when all you really want is a nice, manly shadow?
If that sounds like you, we’d like to introduce you to a company called Leopalace21, a real estate business that develops apartments in Japan.

They’ve noticed a rise in women living alone and the potential security risks this trend poses has led them to create something they call Man on the Curtain.
Essentially, it’s a device that projects the shadow of a man on a curtain.
The idea is that, from the outside, it will look like a bloke is strutting around the joint; therefore deterring baddies.
We’re not entirely sure it’s not inspired by that scene from Home Alone where Kevin McCallister tricks the robbers into thinking he’s having a raging house party when he’s really blasting Christmas carols by himself/living the dream.

And we’re not sure it’s entirely real.
But then, Leopalace21 have launched a competition offering five projector kits up as giveaways – so they would have made at least a few of these things.
And we found an online competition entry from which looks reasonably legit, so maybe this isn’t some kind of elaborate April Fools gag.

Apparently, there will be 12 different dream boats for single ladies to choose from.
You can have a man swinging a baseball bat around an apartment willy nilly:

Man who shares the load of household chores:

Man just having a look at what's in the Trading Post:

There’s also vision of a man whose spirit has been broken by the corporate world trudging home after work, casting off his suit jacket and tie as he ruminates on his meaningless life:

If you’ve got nothing better to do with your time/have a dark void deep inside that needs filling, you can watch each of the clips, which have been conveniently uploaded to Vimeo.
They each go for a good half an hour, so you’ve got six hours of one-dimensional men doing various activities to binge on if you so desire.
We’re not here to judge.
