A man who filmed himself farting for six months has been given the sack.

A guy who goes by the name Paul Flart has been posting videos of himself letting one rip nearly ever day since March.

Flart’s Instagram account is chockers with close-ups of his face while he, ah, coughs in his rompers and makes humorous facial expressions.

But even though it’s primarily showing his face, you can clearly see what looks like a security guard uniform and signage behind him.

If you check out his Instagram, you can see dozens of clips like this, the point at which humanity has reached:

We managed to get a hold of Flart, whose real name is Doug, to ask him a really important question: why?

“The front lobby of the hospital I worked at had amazing acoustics one day I had to rip a fart and was amazed at the sound,” he told 9Pickle.

“Things progressed from as I conferred with my group chat and Paul Flart was born.”

Paul Flart, you might twig, sounds very similar to Kevin James’ character Paul Blart on Mall Cop.

And this might make you think this whole thing was fake, but Flart has assured 9Pickle that he “one hundred percent” worked as a security guard.

He said he was stationed at a hospital in central Florida.

The bloke has profiles across social media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, so he was making no secret of his extracurricular pursuits.

His videos got so popular that his employers soon caught…wind of this social media fame.

A super edit of his previous work was posted to the LadBible Facebook page on Monday, clicking up nearly 10 million views.

Later that day, Flart says his boss was on to him.

And on Thursday, he posted a livestream of what sounds like a pretty definite sacking.

The clip had been viewed more than 635,00 times by Friday morning, and appearing in news stories around the world.

Flart, to his credit, copped it on the chin.

“I don't see the point of trying to get my job back,” he said.

“I was fired, it happens and we are gonna move on.

“As far as what's next, the content has to keep coming.

“I'll still do whatever I can to make videos and bring joy and happiness to those that watch.”

He has since launched a crowd-funding campaign, where people can support his work.

Flart’s sights are now set squarely on his new life goal: to become first person to make a living off farting.
