Bride confronts designer after his commented haunted her for years – his apology left the room reeling

Bridal designer Randy Fenoli's famous catchphrase has haunted bride-to-be Rachel for a long time:

"You have to wear a veil, if you don't you're just a pretty girl in a white dress."

Rachel came face-to-face with Randy during a trip to famed wedding dress store Kleinfeld Bridal, and in an episode of Say Yes To The Dress, she told him how that sentiment has scared her into thinking she won't feel like a bride on her own big day.

"Rachel's worried about this day her whole life," her mum Beth explained.

Rachel has trichotillomania, a compulsive hair-pulling disorder, and as a result has been bald since she was eight years old.

"Watching the show, every girl gets that moment where you put the veil on her head and she suddenly sees herself as a bride, I've always been scared that I'm not going to have that because I can't necessarily wear a veil," Rachel shared.

A devastated Randy began to tear up as he realised his common saying about every bride needing a veil had impacted her.

"That's like to biggest no-no, you don't want to hurt other human beings," he reacted. "And unless you've walked in their shoes, you don't know what they've been through."

Randy got to work finding Rachel her dream wedding gown – and a way to give her a 'veil' moment.

After two dresses that she liked but didn't feel were 'the one', Rachel got her butterfly moment in a third gown.

But there was still something not quite complete: accessories.

"We're just going to play," Randy said, unsure if Rachel would love or hate his plan.

He draped a veil over the head and body, immediately bringing the bride and her entourage to tears.

She'd never before been able to imagine herself with a veil and didn't think it would be possible to wear one, but a choked up Rachel said "I stand corrected".

It was everything she hoped it would be as she said she finally felt "like a bride".

"I've never even been able to imagine what I would look like in a veil and I didn't know it was possible to have that feeling," she said.

"They make dreams come true."
