Mother-of-the-bride horrified by daughter's dream wedding dress – what she said next left her in tears

When searching for her dream wedding dress, Krystle had a brief in mind: "I love sparkles, I like big, I want drama."

The drama she got however, was of the different kind.

So, when she found a dress that ticked all the boxes, why was her family's reaction so bad it left Krystle in tears?

She looked like a giant "cake" apparently.

"I'm definitely an over-the-top bride. I love the glitz, the glam, the big skirt," she proudly confessed.

Along for the ride was Krystle's sister and mum Kathryn, who's approval meant everything to the bride.

Krystle fell in love with a US$5,800 (AU$8,890) designer gown adorned with diamantes, ruffles, bows and a show-stopping train.

"Oh em gee, look at those bows!" Krystle gushed.

But as Krystle stepped out to show her entourage, their blunt reaction caught her off guard and in tears.

"The bottom looks like a cake," pointed out Krystle's sister. "It's a little overwhelming..."

"It's not my favourite," mum Kathryn jumped in.

Krystle struggled with her family's criticism, but deep down knew it was a dress she loved.
