Reporter flips out after interviewing Ricky Martin without realising he was still on the line

Look, we all have our favourite celebrities.

For some people it’s Julia Roberts, for others it’s the guy who sings the jingle for their local chicken shop ad.

But few of us will ever actually meet our idols.

And maybe that’s a good thing, because you’re highly likely to do something embarrassing when you come face to face with them.

Take this awkward moment between international pop sensation Ricky Martin and Chicago WGN reporter Ana Belaval.

Belaval is a huge Ricky Martin fan and was stoked to be able to chime in with a question when he was being interviewed by the team back at the studio.

The satellite cross was her voice only, so Martin was unable to see Belaval on the camera.

Keeping that in mind, she was able to maintain a certain level of composure to ask him about his aid work in Puerto Rico following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

But when she thought the interview had wrapped at the connection to Martin was cut, she lost it.

She started crying, was gushing about him calling her “mama baby” and generally fangirling the heck out.

But it turns out that Martin could hear the whole thing.

Eeeep.

Thankfully Martin was gracious about the whole thing.

“I love what I'm hearing,” he said.

The video has since gone viral, with the funny moment shared on the WGN website then clocking up hundreds of thousands of views as the video was posted on Facebook.
