A dog found in an abandoned house refuses to be separated from his metal bucket.

The pit bull mix named Slim was discovered emaciated and scared in December last year and has been living at the Ashland County Dog Shelter in Ohio ever since.

While staying at the shelter, he's been working on his manners, especially food guarding issues, and is looking for a permanent home.

Despite ripping apart all of his toys, Slim is attached to his bucket.

"He loves his bucket and is lost without it!" says a post on Rescue Me Ohio's Facebook page.

Slim is estimated to be four or five years old, with a lot of energy, charm and physical strength.

"He loves attention and loves to play. He is a very strong boy too who does not have the best of leash manners," the post says.

He is anxious in the shelter and due to his history of neglect, needs a rescue home as opposed to a regular foster home. "He will need time to properly decompress and learn how to be a normal dog again," says Rescue Me Ohio.
