Queensland kayaker nearly run down by speedboat

A fisherman enjoying a leisurely sit on a kayak on a Queensland creek has almost become fish food thanks to a roaring speedboat.

The unnamed man had wet a line from his kayak in Yeppoon in Central Queensland and was putting up his feet and relaxing on Sunday.

His peace was ruptured by the dull rumbling of an approaching speedboat, which had to swerve to avoid mowing him down.

"You f---ing clowns. Jesus f---ing Christ, hey," the kayaker said.

But instead of squishing the kayak, the speedboat veers straight into the creek bank, making short work of some bushes and shrubs.

"I have nothing personal against the guys in the boat, but they made a decision to operate the vessel in an unsafe manner and at speed in an inappropriate area," he said.

"Someone could be dead and that's the sum of it."

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the near-miss.
