VIDEO: Prom date fails at grand entrance photo op

That's one way to make an entrance.

Austin Cooper nailed his look to take Jordyn McManus to her Florida prom last weekend, but the poor guy had a little trouble when it came to the standard top-of-the-stairs photo op part.

As the pair smiled for cameras below, Cooper had a little slip-up.

And thankfully, it was all caught on tape.

McManus tweeted the video with the caption "at least we tried" and good grief did it blow up.

In less than three days, the clip attracted nearly 300,000 likes and more than 110,000 retweets as well as the attention of the US version of the Today Show.

Cooper's tumble was all over the internet and US TV as people revelled in his delightfully awkward misstep. 

"My back was hurting during the whole night of prom but I stuck with it and manned up," Cooper told Mashable.

After prom, the Florida couple gave their grand entrance another crack, taking extra caution this time:
