A Chinese kindergarten is in hot water after a pole dancer performed for children at an event to celebrate the new school year.

Parents and young children had gathered at Xinshashui Kindergarten in Shenzhen, China, for the back-to-school event.

And you’d think this would be quite a tame event but, according to a yarn from Kelsey Cheng at The Daily Mail, it was anything but.

Parents were outraged when a pole dancer took centre stage, performing a racy routine for the crowd.

Watching on were children as young as three.

Vision of the performance is now being shared across Chinese social media platform Weibo before going viral globally.

Footage posted by Hong Kong based Twitter user @tangyongtao74 showing the woman dancing around what looks like to be the school’s flag pole.

A report from local masthead Shenzhen Evening News said the kindergarten had made a public apology for the event, with the Baoan District Education Bureau launching an investigation.

“After investigation and verification, the park invited the institution to use its own steel pipe equipment to perform pole dancing,” a Baoan District Education Bureau statement read.

“The District Education Bureau believes that it is not appropriate to perform pole dancing for children in kindergartens.

“Other kindergartens in the district should make inferences about the school behaviour.”
