Someone has made a Planet Earth style doco about the ibis and it's chilling

We all loved Planet Earth II.

From the scenes with baby iguanas racing hordes of snakes in their first seconds of life to giraffes giving lions a swift kick up the date, it was glorious.

But there was one thing the BBC series was missing: a detailed look at the life of the ibis.

We in Australia know these dank excuses for birds far better than we'd like to.

We know their habitat: within a 15 metre radius of your wheelie bin and public park garbage.

We know their diet: bin juice and whatever food you've unwittingly left momentarily unattended.

We know their evolutionary objective: to disgust as many human beings as possible, to ruin every picnic within their territory and to make humanity question whether intelligent design is a reasonable concept considering their existence.

But now, the bin chicken has finally been given the Attenborough treatment.

David Johns created this impressive parody, uploading it to YouTube two days ago and already it's a whopping success.

It is the seventh-most trending video on the 'tube for Australia, and has notched up nearly 60,000 views.

It's also firing off on Reddit, with those people lucky enough to be unfamiliar with the bird being intrigued by the collective distain for them.

"Looks like their body is the same size as a chicken. Does anyone eat them?" naive Redditor MTandBJJ asked, horrifying the nation.

Because the only thing worse than having these scummy birds in your garden would be someone rocking up to a picnic with a barbecued ibis and fresh bread rolls.

Some people were even duped into thinking this mockumentary was a genuine Planet Earth clip.

The doco features some slick production, an excellent Attenborough impersonator and ripper commentary, so we can understand that.

But things take a dark turn as the narrator reminds viewers that human waste is helping these filthy trash turkeys to survive, hinting that the planet may one day belong to the ibis.

This alone, should be enough for people to think seriously about their waste disposal habits.

Really, if state governments used those last few seconds paired with warning that littering aided the eventual takeover of the scabby fleabag that is the ibis, people would sit up and take notice.
