Three-eyed snake found in – where else – the NT

A three-eyed python has been found on the Arnhem Highway near Darwin in the Northern Territory.

NT Parks and Wildlife rangers said the snake was a young one, about 40cm long.

With remarkable understatement, they said the tri-ocular serpent was "peculiar" as an x-ray revealed the third eye was not "two separate heads forged together", but a single skull with an additional eye socket and three functioning eyes.

Apparently, two separate heads forged together would have been less peculiar.

The rangers stressed the third eye was likely a development that took place in embryonic form, and that it was "extremely unlikely" it was from "environmental factors", a grave disappointment to anybody looking for somewhere they can make their own Ninja Turtles.
