Elephant herd rushes to help collapsed calf

When a lone elephant calf collapsed in the middle of a road in South Africa's Kruger National Park, it didn't take long for its entire family to come to the rescue. 

Nudging it with their feet and trunks, the other elephants eventually encourage the young calf to get up off the ground and out of harm's way. 

Family is of utmost importance to elephants. They are known for their socially complex nature and ability to work as a team for the protection of their herd. 

Watch below, as a herd rushes to save a baby elephant who has fallen in a hole. 

This cute calf (below) is protected by a group of nanny elephants from a strong current while bathing in a stream.
