Dog reunited with owner two years after she was lost on the streets of Argentina

Pakita was dropped off at the Arca animal shelter in Argentina after wandering away from home two years ago.

Arca Animal refuge volunteer Silvia Ferreyraand her team of animal lovers cared for Pakita, but according to a report from The Dodo, the poor thing was always very sad.

Pakita would cower when approached and this made it difficult to take a photo of her, Ferreyraand told journo Stephen Messenger.

Eventually, volunteers were able to snap a shot of the sweet angel and posted it online to let people know she was up for adoption.

Shortly after the photo was posted, Naveira's mother called the shelter claiming Pakita.

A day later, Naveira went to meet his long-lost mate.

After so long apart, Pakita didn't recognise Naveira at first.

But she eventually remembered him after smelling his scent.

That's when things get emotional.

Ferreyraand captured the whole thing on video and posted the beautiful bloody clip to Facebook.

From there it went viral, being shared on social media and making it to the front page of Reddit as it melted hearts around the world.
