We're just going to warn you, this is going to get emotional.

This is Helen, a stray dog who was found starving, sick and all alone on the streets of India.

She was missing teeth, her skin was covered in sores and she had only tufts of fur on her back.

It was so bad, she yelped out in pain when she was picked up by volunteers from Animal Aid Unlimited, who said she was "lying in a heart-broken little ball".

For a while, everything seemed pretty hopeless for Helen, who could barely lift her head when she was seen by a vet.

She couldn't even eat.

The heart-warming rescue video was shared on the Animal Aid Unlimited Facebook page, where it attracted more than 400,000 views and probs prompted more than a few tears.

"Her hip bones, rib cage and spine jutted against her paper-thin skin," volunteers said on Facebook.

"She looked like she no longer believed that life could hold anything but pain and she didn't have the strength to even stand.

"Pain and hunger had taken everything from her."

But slowly, Helen began to heal.

Vets treated her with anti-inflammatory drugs and lotion to soothe her blistered skin.

They gave her fluids through a drip to combat her severe dehydration.

Helen grew to trust the animal activists, and took her first few bites of food.

And bit by bit, she recovered.

Eventually, she grew all her fur back and her tail started wagging again.

Helen will live out the rest of her days in the Animal Aid sanctuary, where it seems she'll get nothing but love and cuddles.

Not because we're crying or anything... it's just cold and flu season.
