Near miss for volunteer at cycling race

It was supposed to be the exciting end to the Tour De Yorkshire cycle race.

But for one volunteer it was almost over even earlier when a rogue car crashed through a traffic island, narrowly missing the man.

The marshal was standing in the middle of the road, waving a bright yellow flag at oncoming cyclists.

As the support vehicles brought up the rear, one made a beeline straight for the man, who leapt out of the way in the nick of time.

Thankfully all those involved walked away unscathed.
