Why Zac Efron and new Aussie girlfriend Vanessa Valladares are 'really good' for each other

Zac Efron has been keeping a low profile since dating Aussie model Vanessa Valladares.

The Bad Neighbours star, 32, has been spending more time with the 25-year-old Byron Bay native and less time on the party scene, according to sources.

"Zac and Vanessa are really good for each other," a source told Us Weekly. "She has calmed him down a lot, and he's not partying too much."

The couple now spend more of their time outdoors, with the source saying they both love to be active and "she and Zac have that in common".

After the High School Musical shot to fame, Efron appeared to lead a hard-partying lifestyle. He reportedly sought treatment in 2013 for substance abuse issues and has been sober ever since.

"I just started going [to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings]. And I think it's changed my life," he told The Hollywood Reporter in April 2014. "I'm much more comfortable in my own skin. Things are so much easier now. It's a never-ending struggle."

In July, Efron made headlines after he was spotted with Valladares in Byron Bay. The couple reportedly met one month prior, while she was still working at The Byron Bay General Store cafe. The pair recently went on a ski trip to Thredbo in NSW before being seen having brunch in Lennox Head.

The Greatest Showman star previously dated High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens from 2007 to 2010 and model Sami Miro from 2014 to 2016. He was also linked to actresses Lily Collins, Michelle Rodriguez and Halston Sage and Olympic swimmer Sarah Bro.
