Will Ferrell recalls the time he accidentally punched Ellen DeGeneres in the face: Watch!

Talk about a punch line!

Will Ferrell 49, and fellow comedian Amy Poehler, 45, made an appearance on Tuesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote their new film, The Casino. But when the conversation drifted to a Saturday Night Live sketch they did with the talk show host back in 2001, things definitely got interesting.

As Ellen recalled, she was the guest host for that night's show. She and Will played a husband and wife that disapproved of their son's new girlfriend, played by Amy.

The three had a hard time hashing out the exact details about the sketch in question.

"But I do remember the sketch where I accidentally punched you in the face," Will said casually to Ellen, 59.

"And I gave you boxing head gear as an apology later," he added.

Talking it all in stride, Ellen hit back, "That was really sweet. I loved it. He felt so bad about it, but I loved that I got punched by Will. It made me happy."

"And I thought about suing, but I didn’t," she joked.

The hilarious revelation came days after Will broke into Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You" while delivering the commencement address to students at the University of Southern California.

There, both he and actress Helen Mirren were awarded honorary degrees.
