Sonia Kruger has given her first interview since becoming a mum two days ago, leaving her Mornings co-host David Campbell wiping away tears mid-conversation.

Sonia, 49, also explained how she and her partner Craig McPherson came to pick the name for their baby daughter, Maggie Kruger McPherson. And yes, she was pretty concerned about The Simpsons factor!

The Big Brother host gave birth to her first child at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney on Saturday. Maggie weighed a healthy 3.8kg.

Sonia announced the happy news on Instagram on Saturday with a photo of her baby's feet in teeny-tiny socks.

"Guess what...they fit! Little Maggie Kruger McPherson born this morning," she wrote. "#happybirthday #babygirl."

Sonia's bub arrives just two weeks after her co-host David and his wife Lisa, welcomed twins: William and Elizabeth (or Billy and Betty as he calls them). We see a Mornings playgroup happening!
