Ariana Grande hits out at 'straight, white, old men' running for the US election when the country has 'so many diverse, beautiful people'

Ariana Grande has called out the "straight, white, old men" running for president in the 2020 US election.

In an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, the 'Positions' singer opened up about her stance on the presidential race between President Donald Trump, 74, and Joe Biden, 77, saying she feels there needs to be more diversity among those who run for office as it's not representative of modern America.

"I really hope that we're able to make a difference and take back our power this year," she said. "How are we gonna get this right for a country that is made up of so many different, diverse, beautiful people if the whole s--t is being run by straight, white, old men?

"That's not fair. You know? How! How will we get this right?"

Grande used her platform to share voting resources in the months leading up to the election and also partnered with HeadCount to register young voters during her 2019 Sweetener Tour.

"It was cool to have HeadCount on tour with me and to be able to register over 20,000 people," she said.

Grande also spoke about her single 'Positions', which is the debut track off her highly-anticipated sixth studio album. The release was accompanied by a fresh new music video.

In the video, Grande takes over the President's chair in the White House, leading cabinet meetings, signing documents, while surrounded by female executives. The music video makes a clear statement at a time when the US is completely surrounded by the election.

"I love my cabinet in the video," she said on the Zach Sang Show, calling them "a gorgeous, intelligent group of individuals that I love, and I believe that we should see more people in power who look and are like them".
