Tom Hardy captures moped thief in epic Hollywood-style chase, goes full superhero

Tom Hardy, man after our own heart has captured a moped thief. 

The 39-year-old Oscar-nominee turned the streets of London into a real-life action scene, when he pursued a crook who stole and crashed a moped on Sunday. 

According to witnesses, two people were seen running a red light on the stolen bike, before they crashed into a car at a busy intersection. One of the thieves was caught, while the other took off on foot.  

And that was Tom's cue. 

He reportedly then pulled the thief into a bus stop and patted him down for weapons (for reals), before checking his ID and handing him over to police.

The Brit heartthrob - who was conveniently dressed for the occasion in tracksuit pants, runners, and an army-style backpack - not only got his sprint on during the dramatic chase, but also leaped over walls. Like it's hard? 

A witness told The Sun, "It was mental - like, he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie. 

"Tom must have been walking down the road," he continued. "He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding."

Between this, and shutting down sexist questions on the red carpet, Tom's hero status just went up a notch in our books. 

Tom married Peaky Blinders actress Charlotte Riley, in 2014. In October. they welcomed their first child together.
