Tom Hanks and Tim Allen get emotional recording final 'Toy Story' scene

Chances are that if you were alive in the '90s the original Toy Story film holds a special, nostalgic place in your heart.

The decades since its original 1995 release have seen multiple sequels come out, winning over the hearts of kids and adults alike with Woody, Buzz and the gang's hijinks.

From saving other toys from Andy's sadistic next-door neighbour Sid, to the iconic claw scene, the Toy Story franchise is one of those wholesome film franchises that we just can't help but love.

But with the fourth film on the horizon, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have just recently wrapped up their voice recording for the iconic characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear -- and things got emotional.

Tim Allen tweeted about his bittersweet final moments working on the film, but assured fans they'd adore the "wonderful full body story" of the fourth instalment.

"Finished my Buzz for Toy Story 4 today and it got emotional," he tweeted.

"You are all going to love the work this incredible team at Pixar created. We are all going to love this story....man its got everything."

If that wasn't enough to get you a bit weepy, Tom Hanks added to the feels by posting to Instagram, where he shared a snap of the moment he recorded his final line for the film.

"Final line, final session as Woody of Toy Story 4," he captioned the photo.

"We rode like the wind, to infinity and beyond."

We're not crying, you are.

Though they've wrapped up their voice work, the film still has several stages to go through before its June release date.

But Hanks' and Allen's emotional messages sounded way too final for some fans, who began to panic about the future of the franchise.

"I can't imagine a world where we aren't dared to dream to infinity and beyond," one fan tweeted.

"I'm not emotionally prepared for [Toy Story] 4," another lamented.

Others were just worried about how much the film would make them cry, if Toy Story 3 was anything to go by.

"I'm going to cry like a baby on opening night," wrote a 30 year old man who had grown up with the films.

Here's hoping this is just the end of their filming and not the end of the Toy Story Gang forever -- but even if it is, we know we'll always have a friend in them.
