Major turning point in Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer’s divorce, 10 years after split
A decade after their separation, exes Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer have reached a major point in their divorce proceedings.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the couple have reportedly reached an agreement on dissolving their marital status.

The publication reports that the pair have also agreed to use a private judge to mediate any further disagreements as they work toward finalising remaining asset settlements.
The former couple were married for nine years before announcing their separation in October 2016 and filing for divorce in 2020. They share two children, son Otis, 17 and daughter Ruby, 19.
Meyer and Maguire first met in 2003 while filming Seabiscuit in Hawaii, later returning to the place they met to tie the knot in 2007.
In a 2024 appearance on the Broad Ideas podcast, Meyer shared that when she and Maguire first decided
to separate, maintaining a good relationship for the sake of their children was at the forefront of both of their minds.
“Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was doing with Chris [Martin],” she explained.
“This ‘conscious uncoupling’ that everyone was sort of making fun of, I got to see it firsthand. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed two human beings go through.
“I watched her do this, and I was like, wow. That’s not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce is ugly.”
During a 2025 interview on the Inside Edit podcast, Meyer said that while she and Maguire definitely hit some hurdles throughout the process, they’re now in a better place than ever.
Paltrow reportedly introduced the couple to Dr Habib Sadeghi, who led herself and Martin through the process of conscious uncoupling.

“Everyone was making fun of conscious uncoupling at the time, but joke’s on them. Joke’s on those people making fun of it. I called [Sadeghi] and then I had to say to Tobey, ‘Hey, we’re going to go to couples therapy’,” Meyer said.
“I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him. Anything in the world.”
