Rapper T.I.'s daughter opens up about 'embarrassing' virginity comments

Deyjah Harris has opened up about the controversial comments her father, rapper T.I., made about her virginity, and the ways in which they "hurt" and "embarrassed" her.

In November last year, during a since-deleted episode of the podcast Ladies Like Us, T.I. spoke about his now 19-year-old daughter and admitted that he escorts Harris on "yearly trips to the gynaecologist" in order to "check her hymen" and ensure she's still a virgin.

The comments quickly went viral, and received a significant amount of backlash.

Now, on the latest episode of the family's reality show, T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle, Harris has once again addressed the comments and revealed the moment she discovered they had gone public.

"Things are completely uncomfortable for me right now," she said in a clip from the show, adding that it's difficult to separate herself physically from her father since they're all living together.

"I'm scrolling on Twitter and I see I've been tagged in a post. The only word I saw was 'gynaecologist.' I didn't even need to read the whole title because I just knew. My heart sank," she said. "[I'm] very shocked, hurt, angry, embarrassed."

Harris then spoke to her cousins on the show, and when they asked her about how she had been, she said she was trying to put it in the back of her mind.

"I'm not really thinking about it," she explained, tearfully. "I know it's not healthy. But I've been doing that since I was a child."

After the backlash circulated, the rapper appeared on an episode of Red Table Talk, where he apologised to Harris for sharing personal details and putting undue stress on her.

"I am incredibly apologetic to her for that," he said. "She understands my intentions and she knows who I am. She knows who I've always been. And I think that that allows a certain level of understanding. The outside, the noise, it's distracting, it's confusing, it's hurtful and embarrassing."
