While most celebs swan around in their shiny black cars on awards night, 45-year-old Cate proved she was a girl after our own heart by catching the bus to the AACTAs last night. How's that for an afternoon commute?!

One fan tweeted: "Love Cate Blanchett. She took the bus to the AACTA Awards in Sydney. Gave the bus driver a kiss, stepped off the bus and onto the red carpet." Talk about an exit...

The Aussie actress stole the night with news she'd "gone commando" for the screen awards, reportedly standing on the bus to avoid wrinkling her silk Alexander McQueen dress.
