Justin Hawkins, lead singer of The Darkness, suffered a frightening chemical incident that led to his shorts melting onto his skin at his home in Switzerland recently.

Hawkins, 45, who recently competed on The Masked Singer UK, was in the midst of fixing his swimming pool when the accident occurred.

"There was a problem with the pool, a pump thing and some chemicals came out of it," Hawkins told The Sun.

The rocker detailed how the household chore turned into an ordeal that landed him in the emergency room, adding: "I think it was a PH negative chemical to control the acidity of the pool. I was trying to fix it and I touched my legs and my shorts melted onto my legs, so then I had to go to hospital."

Hawkins lives in Switzerland with his wife and daughter. It's believed that the English musician didn't suffer any long-term side effects from the accident.
