The Holiday is one of the cosiest Christmas films, filling us with renewed hope as the year comes to a close.
Eighteen years on, here are some facts that you might not know about the iconic Christmas flick.
The "boob graze"
Jack Black's infamous "boob graze" was sparked after the actor had done the same thing to director Nancy Meyers and apologised.
She found it so funny that she immediately included it in the script the next day, finally putting a name to the awkward phenomenon that is still used widely today.
Jude Law's changing tan
Viewers may have been distracted by Jude Law's changing appearance, looking bronzer in the indoor scenes than he did outdoors – but he explained there is a good reason for it.
"We shot the exteriors in the UK first. It was freezing. For whatever reason, all the interiors – the UK interiors too – were filmed in the studios here in LA, so we all moved to LA," he told Vanity Fair.
"Nancy has the reputation – well, I don't know if she does anymore – but she has the reputation for taking her time. I'm sat in my house waiting for five weeks before they get to me.
"As you can probably see, if I look at the sun I go very brown very quickly. My father is very dark-skinned.
"And if you watch that film carefully, when I'm outside in England I'm really white and pasty, and as soon as I go inside I'm like, 'Hey!' and I've got this suntan.
"No one really notices, but if you watch I darken by about two shades every time I step inside and out."
Dustin Hoffman's cameo was not planned
Dustin Hoffman's cameo in the film happened completely by accident.
The actor had gone into the Blockbuster Video to rent a film himself when he had spotted the setup from the production crew and went over to investigate.
From there, he was roped into an uncredited cameo after director Nancy Myers requested he do it.
Key detail missing from Blockbuster Video scene
Also in the Blockbuster Video scene is another lesser-known tidbit: In the DVD commentary, it was revealed all of Jack Black and Kate Winslet's films were stripped from the shelves in case they were spotted in the background.
Now 24 years old, Iris is a model and actress in her own right.
She has modelled for brands such as Burberry, Marc Jacobs, La Perla, and Stella McCartney, Lacoste, Calvin Klein, and Versace.
A blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo
Lindsay Lohan and James Franco made uncredited cameos in the film as the stars of the film Deception, which Amanda's film company makes the trailer for.
Director's unlikely tip to Eli Wallach
Eli Wallach played Amanda's neighbor Arthur, a famous screenwriter from the Golden Age of Hollywood in the film, whom Iris befriends.
Wallach was 90 years old at the time of filming, but Meyers found him so animated on set that she had to remind him constantly to tone it down and move slowly, like an elderly man.
Wallach died on June 24, 2014, at 98 years old.
