The Bachelor Australia alum Heather Maltman reveals she suffered a miscarriage

Former The Bachelor Australia contestant Heather Maltman has revealed her personal loss to her followers.

Maltman, a 34-year-old podcast host who appeared on Sam Wood's season of the hit show in 2015, confirmed she had suffered a miscarriage in an interview with Daily Mail Australia. She told the outlet that by sharing her story, she hoped to help make the process of falling pregnant, and then sadly losing the baby, more "normal."

"I want to make the process of falling pregnant, the losses and changes women go through physically and emotionally, more normal," she said.

The former reality star had been expecting the little one with her boyfriend, Matt Baker.

"You hear people say, 'You're so brave for sharing," [and] it's disappointing that we live in a world where it isn't more normalised to have a miscarriage," she said.

On Instagram, she addressed the heartbreak in a post accompanied with a photo of her in a hospital bed, with Baker, who co-hosts their podcast One Together, sleeping on the floor.

"This man has been sleeping on hospital floors for me and taking me to the toilet," the message began. "And not left my side for days. I've been in and out of Randwick for one of the saddest moments of our journey so far. It's his birthday. And for his birthday. I will go into surgery. While he goes to work and comes back by the time I get out. He will wait by my side until I go under. And has been getting minimal sleep. He has been picking up my slack for work. And just been... f---ing everything to me. There was no podcast this week. And I'm so sorry to the over 4,000 people who listen in every week. I wanted to make sure to let you know what was happening. As you're so committed to our stories. I wanted to be honest with you," she wrote.

In another post, where she sits on a bunch alone, she wrote, "I have decided to end the ONE podcast for its first season. And pick it up again in 2020. After the last 2 months. And having to say good-bye to our little person Llewy... We need time to heal. We named you Llewy after the name Lewis from @gogonads and @tonylewis52…"

Maltman was determined find strength and even humour after the devastating lost, and in a third post, she shared a throwback photo of herself holding a pregnancy test before a worried Baker's face.

"Hahahhahaha do you remember when I showed you this? Were you scared at knowing I'd peed on it? Or what that pee meant?!?! Ohhh. What a great memory we will have now. I have awesome videos to share with you across my little pregnancy that I think you'll 100 per cent relate to. Regardless of a successful pregnancy or not. Like mine," adding the hashtags "baby drama," "remember your little one," and "find the humour."
