The Bachelor Australia: Elly Miles reportedly knew Matt Agnew before the show

The Bachelor Australia has been rocked by fresh claims that contestant Elly Miles "had history" with Matt Agnew before filming kicked off.

The 24-year-old nurse from Newcastle has been accused of secretly knowing Matt before they met on the red carpet during the season's first episode.

"Most of the girls knew Elly had history with Matt and it caused a lot of tension in the house," a source told New Idea on Monday.

"The girls eventually confronted her about it, and she denied the rumours. But everyone knew it had happened and started to despise her for having an unfair advantage. The whole thing really upset her."

However, Network 10 have since shut down the claims and declared that Matt and Elly had no history before filming.

"This story is completely false. Matt and Elly did not know each other prior to filming The Bachelor," a spokesperson told Daily Mail.

Elly has been a favourite since she was the first contestant to score a 'golden ticket' at the first cocktail party. She joined Matt for some alone time and they toasted marshmallows and appeared to have instant chemistry.

Matt took Elly on one of the first dates of the season. They attended Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse, and shared a passionate kiss.

The nurse admitted that she was struggling to wipe the smile off her face in one of her confessionals to the camera.

"It makes me happy thinking about Elly," Matt told producers on camera.

Elly's official bio describes her as a "big softie with a kind heart" and someone whose applied for The Bachelor to "take a bit of a chance."
