Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira slammed for outfits and antics during performance

Superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira brought down the house during their Super Bowl LIV Halftime show performance in Miami, but those watching from home were not so impressed.

The Twittersphere blew up with complaints from some fans who thought the duo's costumes and antics on stage where not appropriate for a family-friendly show.

"The Superbowl is supposed to be an event families can watch together. Why, then, are we subjected to Shakira's constant twerking & J Lo's ultra-revealing outfits?" wrote one viewer. 

Another was not happy that Lopez began pole dancing at one point — an obvious nod to her award-winning role in the drama Hustlers, in which she played a stripper.

"A pole? Could women just perform and not channel strippers?" fumed another Twitter user. "They are sexy enough. Could we have music/dance without it looking like a sex act? What are we teaching girls?"

Some Twitter users went as far as claiming Colombian singer Shakira and Puerto Rican-raised Lopez — who brought a Puerto Rican flag-coat on stage — were letting down the Latino community.

"What a filthy halftime show. What a sell-out of Latino culture, to boil it down to sl---y sex obsession," wrote one. 

It wasn't all hate on Twitter. The pair also got some love from fans, who couldn't believe Lopez was 50 years old.

"Dear Baby Jesus Jennifer Lopez is 50 years old. That's it, that's the tweet," commented one, while another admitted, "If I looked like Jennifer Lopez or Shakira I don't think I would wear pants either. Can we just support women?"

And there was plenty more where that came from with Lopez's number one fan, Alex Rodriguez, gushing about his fiancée.

 "AMAZING!! She ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED IT! Wow, that was so fun! I'm so proud of you, Jen!" the former New York Yankee captioned an Instagram video of him dancing and singing during the show.

Lady Gaga, Pink, Kim Kardashian and Ellen DeGeneres were just as mesmerised. 

"@JLo and @shakira and all the special guests were so incredible!!! What a fun halftime show I danced and smiled the whole time. Such powerful sexy women!!!! On camera and off!!!!! Love you beautiful sexy talented women," Gaga tweeted Twitter, while Pink tweeted, "Yes! Halftime was JOY!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!! @shakira @JLo everything that's yes."

Meanwhile, DeGeneres wrote, "My friend @JLo, along with @shakira put on one heck of a halftime show. Love you JLo!" while Kardashian added, "They really shut it down!!!! Congrats on that amazing SuperBowl Halftime Show."
