Sonny Bill Williams welcomes surprise fifth baby with wife Alana

Sonny Bill Williams has shocked fans with the announcement of the arrival of his fifth child with his wife Alana Raffie.

The former rugby league player shocked his fans as he uploaded a video that began with him delivering a note to his four children.

Then the realisation set in: "Is Mummy pregnant?"

Williams then addressed the camera himself.

"Yes, some would say we are suckers for punishment," he joked. "We're having another baby," he said as his wife walked across with her hospital bag packed.

In the car on the way to the hospital, they revealed that they kept the gender of the new arrival a surprise, but that if it was a boy, that Williams would be able to name the child.

Soon enough, the 38-year-old was holding his new son in his arms.

"Alhamdullilah (praise be to God), Mohammed Williams," he introduced the newborn, choking on tears as he continued, "Four kilos, healthy boy and healthy mum."

"May Allah raise and bless young Mohammed to grow to be a strong, righteous man," Williams said.

Williams and his wife are devout Muslims, with the boxer converting to the religion in 2009. The couple wed in 2014 and welcomed four children – Zaid, Essa, Imaan and Aisha – before their latest addition.

The older kids were seen rushing into the hospital room to welcome their new baby brother, even bringing a toy as a present.

Friends and fans took to the comments to congratulate the couple.

"I'm not crying you are," wrote Aussie actress and model Laura Dundovic of the heartfelt post.

"Mashallah (God has willed it)!!! I cried!!! so happy for you babes @lanamarieewilli queen of the pregnancy surprises at this point," wrote Aisha Baker, cricketer Wayne Parnell's wife.

"Huge congratulations! Best secret kept ever!" said one fan.
