Sofía Vergara didn't hold back when Kelly Clarkson suggested her physical transformation as Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco was only 'slight'.

While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her upcoming series Griselda, the Modern Family alum clashed with Clarkson while discussing her Griselda makeup.

"I feel like they only changed your nose or something," the host told Vergara, who suddenly went wide eyed with disbelief and interrupted to exclaim "what?!"

"Are you crazy?" a flabbergasted Vergara questioned Clarkson who very quickly tried to explain herself.

"No, I'm saying like whatever they did though, it looked slight," the host reasoned.

"No Kelly, it was hours," Vergara sternly said. The actress then cracked a smile, clearly enjoying winding up Clarkson as she jokingly told the host "don't be jealous."

"It probably took time," Clarkson admitted, explaining to the actress she meant "the slight change completely changed your being."

"It was a wig!" Vergara then exclaimed before telling the singer "shut up."

Clarkson immediately broke down in stitches, laughing at the Modern Family star telling her to shut up.

"It was a lot. They did a lot to me. It was teeth, it was wig, it was nose," Vergara explained the process of becoming the drug lord.

"It was plastic from here to here," she added.

The host continued to defend what she meant, saying that the costume and makeup team did "such a good job that it looked seamless."

"You literally look like you could just be this person in other movies," Clarkson explained with Vergara laughing in the background and a clip of her intense on-set transformation in the makeup chair showed on screen.

Vergara seemed to genuinely appreciate that Clarkson complimented her transformation looked "real".

"That's exactly what I wanted, that reaction," the actress admitted. "And I love that you thought that it was just a little thing because that means it looks natural."

Vergara stars as Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the crime miniseries Griselda.

The Hot Pursuit actress recently turned heads at the Miami premiere for the show in a glitzy gold strapless gown.

The star's glamorous red carpet appearance came not long after she opened up about her divorce from Joe Manganiello.

The mother-of-one told Spanish newspaper El País: "He wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mum."
