Sienna Miller seemingly reflects on cheating scandal involving then-fiancé Jude Law

British actress Sienna Miller has seemingly opened up about the cheating scandal involving then-fiancé Jude Law back in 2005.

At the time, the actor was outed for cheating on Miller with his children's nanny. In the days following the betrayal, he issued a public apology to the actress only for them to split in 2006. They briefly reunited in 2009 but eventually went their separate ways for good in 2011. 

This week, in a candid interview with ELLE UK, Miller, 40, said starring in the new Netflix series Anatomy Of A Scandal took her back to that "ugly space that's familiar". Watch the trailer above.

Although Miller did not name Law in the interview, she alludes to the aftermath of betrayal in a relationship.

''It was familiar terrain because I've experienced some of the things that she experienced. And the feelings were familiar," Miller told the publication.

"You'd think it would be deeply unpleasant to sit in that space. There is something cathartic, I suppose, about spending time in an ugly space that's familiar. And maybe reclaiming it?" she added. "I don't know what the psychology of it is. But there is something where maybe you can substitute a memory with something else."

In the Netflix series, Miller plays Sophie Whitehouse whose politician husband is accused of sexually assaulting a young political aide.

Miller and Law met in 2004 on the set of the film Alfie. Later that year, on Christmas Day, they were engaged. However, just a few short months later, Law's affair made headlines after the nanny — who was hired by his ex-wife, actress Sadie Frost — went to the tabloids to sell the story of their affair.

"Following the reports in today's papers, I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us," Law said in a statement at the time. "I want to publicly apologise to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused."

"There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time."
