Shannen Doherty shares the heartbreaking reason she can't pay tribute to her late dad

Charmed actress Shannen Doherty has shared the reason why she can't get a tattoo to pay tribute to her late father.

Speaking to her ex-fiancé, director, writer, and producer Rob Weiss on the latest episode of her podcast Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, the actress shared she cannot undergo the simple act due to ongoing treatment for her stage four cancer.

The pair talked about the tattoos they have gotten over the years, with Doherty sharing, "I mean, I want one like right down my side... I've been wanting it, my dad's name."

Her father, John Thomas Doherty Jr., died in 2010 after a series of heath issues, including a stroke.

Weiss interjected with some recommendations for tattooists, jokingly adding he wouldn't "take you to some like, alley tattoo parlor."

But the Beverly Hill, 90210 star explained that it's not that she can't get it, but that it would pose a risk for her health, explaining, "Once you get, you know, like I can't get infections, there's a whole – not like you're gonna get something from the tattoo."

"I'm just like it's alright, I don't need it," she shared regrettably.

She did have tattoos in the past, including one with Weiss' name.

"You had a tattoo with my name on it that you covered up with a bunch of flowers – which totally, by the way, I thought it was crazy you got my name to begin with," he told his ex.

The pair became engaged in 1995 after one year of dating but parted ways in 1998.

Doherty was previously married to Ashley Hamilton, the son of actors George Hamilton and Alana Collins until their divorce in April 1994. She went on to marry poker player Rick Salomon in 2002 but their marriage was annulled after nine months.

Her last relationship was her 2011 marriage with photographer Kurt Iswarienko, who she divorced in April 2023 after she made claims of his alleged infidelity.
