Seven journalist Mike Willesee denies network paid Schapelle for interview

Veteran journalist Mike Willesee has denied the Seven Network has already paid Schapelle Corby up to $2 million for exclusive rights to her tell-all interview.

Outside the luxury Bali resort where Corby has been since her release, Willesee this afternoon told waiting media he was "not aware of any payments".

He admitted the network had paid security guards to protect Corby while she was in the Oberoi hotel and that bidding was underway for an interview.

"We have [paid security], because we would like that interview," he said.

Willessee denied the bidding had reached $2 million.

Suggestions the network had already paid Corby for the interview were today criticised by Sunrise host David Koch, who said on live TV that "we should have nothing to do with her as a network".
