Selena Gomez's birthday tribute to Francia Raísa seemingly settles feud speculation

It's unlikely Selena Gomez knew that a simple birthday post could cause such a hefty reaction online.

The pop star's recent Instagram tribute for her friend Francia Raísa – who donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017 – saw Gomez fans sparking up in an outrage.

The post featured three photos of the Wizards of Waverly Place star with the fellow actress huddled closely together.

"Happiest of birthdays to this special human beings," Gomez captioned the post. "No matter where life takes us, I love you."

Fans have been speculating about a feud between Gomez and Raísa since the release of Gomez's documentary, My Mind and Me, in November 2022.

The documentary notably excluded any mention of Raísa by name, even though it included a small montage about Gomez's kidney transplant.

Raísa then fanned the flames by responding to an Instagram snippet of Gomez' interview with one blunt word: "Interesting". She later deleted the comment.

After seeing the viral social media speculation over the status of their friendship, Gomez decided to comment on a TikTok video with a message that did nothing to quell the rumours.

"Sorry I didn't mention every person I know," she simply wrote.

Despite the pair having been friends since 2007, the feud rumours have led fans to keeping a close eye on the pair.

Those who had decided for Raísa to be the villain of the supposed feud were mad at Gomez and commented on the birthday post expressing a desire for the singer to end the friendship.

"Selena, you don't have to be "mother Teresa of Calcutta" to be a good person," one wrote. "There are certain types of people you just need to let f--k off."

Before the post had even been up for over two hours, other fans called out Raisa for not acknowledging the birthday message.

"The fact that Francia refuses to repost or even like this post is insane," a fan commented.

Since the documentary, other tell-tale signs of the pair's fallout came in the form of unfollowing, when Raísa decided to stop following Gomez on Instagram which another noted in the comments.

"She unfollowed you!!!!!!" one wrote, with multiple others echoing the sentiment.

"The fact that Francia refuses to repost or even like this post is insane," another added.

Raísa is still not following the star and hasn't commented or liked the post as of yet.

Some who were less impressed with Gomez's reported treatment of her friend after the transplant dished it out to the star.

"After all the damage you've done to her and her kidney? you're bold," one wrote.

Others who saw the post as a means to settle feud rumours then became mad at those coming for the 31-year-old star.

"Y'all speculated drama for how long now?? but now she posts wishing her a happy birthday and y'all are still hating???" one wrote. "Selena literally can't do anything without you haters bashing her for every little thing. pathetic."

"Now y'all can shut up about Selena not posting about her," another wrote. "y'all happy?"

The post comes only three days after Gomez's 30th birthday party which fans noted fans noticed the star's friend was not in attendance.
