Schapelle Corby slams online bullies
Convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby has hit back at online trolls for cyber bullying her.
Corby,42, was found guilty of smuggling Cannabis into Indonesia in 2005 and spent nine years imprisoned in Bali, being granted parole in 2014 and returning to Australia in 2017.
She opened up on Instagram, sharing a post with her followers detailing how she's feeling. Corby said she had been experiencing an 'onslaught of abuse' from 'hundreds of savages' and that she had a 'digital detox' by going on a road trip with her sister Mele and staying off social media.
She revealed to users that the time away from her phone and social media has meant that she's "regained" her strength and "refocused" her mind.
Corby continued saying that being bullied so much online was a "soul sucking experience" and that she will "never allow happen to me again."
She advised other people who may also have been experiencing online abuse to remain strong and to take a break from it.
" I am a strong girl" she wrote "but I shouldn't always have to be" before suggesting how to help in a situation where someone may be bullied online.
"I had someone suggest that next time it happens (reality is it will) give my phone to a family member or someone close that I trust to keep pressing that delete and block button for a day or two so I don't have to deal with it."
She concluded the post saying that despite the online trolls, she won't "hide under a rock and delete my account." She also said she appreciates all the love and support she has received during her break. "*Hugs*" she wrote. "Thank you everyone".
