Molly star Samuel Johnson's first kiss was with Home and Away's Kate Ritchie: 'I was mortified'

He's about to appear as Aussie music icon Molly Meldrum in the upcoming mini-series Molly, but Samuel Johnson got his acting start opposite another TV favourite. Yes, he was Gus Bishop, the bad-boy boyfriend of Sally Fletcher (Kate Ritchie) on Home and Away.

"My first pash was onscreen with Kate Ritchie," Samuel told Who Weekly. "I was 14. I was mortified."

TheFIX did some digging and found the footage online. Don't hate us, Sam and Kate, but this is too good not to revisit – watch the super-awkies smooch above.

The episode aired in 1995, when Kate would've been 16 or 17. Kate is now 37, while Sam is 38, so it looks like he might've accidentally shaved two years off in his first kiss story.
