Sad face! <i>Captain America</i> star Chris Evans to quit acting

Just when we thought today was going to be a good day, Captain America star Chris Evans goes ahead and quits acting. Which is just plain selfish if you ask us!

After hinting at a "small break" earlier in the year, Chris has told Variety magazine that he wants to "retire from acting altogether once his Marvel contract expires."

He added: "I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do." Lucky that contractual obligation involves some more super-sexy superhero action!

The 32-year-old plans to pursue his passion for directing, after completing work on indie film 1:30 Train.

He said: "Without these Marvel movies, I wouldn't be directing. They gave me enough overseas recognition to green light a movie. It's going to continue to do that for as long as the Marvel contract runs."

Sigh… we wish the Marvel contract was eternal.
